Team Invictus announcement 2024

Meet Team Invictus 2024
Written by Kelly Sekulovski

Meet the third team out of CrossFit Invictus: Team Invictus.

With a combined number of 21 Games appearances, Team Invictus is bringing some serious experience to the table.

MEET THE TEAM

Chandler Smith

Chandler Smith at the 2023 CrossFit Games

Chandler Smith, 5x Individual CrossFit Games athlete, is taking his talents to the team division for the first time this year with Team Invictus. In the off season, he honed his team skills in Australia and Miami competing with pals Tola Morakinyo and Noah Olsen as Team Ombre Hombres.

Having moved to San Diego a little over a year ago with his wife Jessi, the Smiths have been a huge addition to the Invictus Family, with Chandler even joining the staff as a “player-coach” helping with coaching development while continuing his training, and Jessi shooting for her second consecutive CrossFit Games appearance on Team Unconquerable

Chandler is hopeful that his team debut ends with his team on top of the podium.

Devyn Kim

Devyn Kim, one of two returning members of Team Invictus, is back for her third consecutive year on the team and is chasing another gold medal after Team Invictus’ 1st place finish in the 2023 Affiliate Cup. The ultimate goal for Devyn: be back at the top of the podium with her team.

Before competing on Team Invictus, Devyn competed 4 times at the CrossFit Games as a teen athlete, so she is no stranger to competing at the highest level. Devyn had a busy off season competing as an individual at the Dubai Fitness Championship, and on a team at Wodapalooza with fellow Invictus Athlete Jessi Smith, and Kyra Milligan.

Joshua Al-Chamaa

Fellow returning member of Team Invictus, Joshua Al-Chamaa, is also back for his third consecutive year on the team. Josh had a BIG year in 2023 in more ways than one. He earned his first gold medal at the CrossFit Games on Team Invictus, and he also welcomed his first son, David, with his wife Amber. Becoming a Dad has had a huge impact on Josh and he is more motivated than ever.

In a post from his Instagram back in November, Josh confirmed he would be returning to an Invictus Team. While it might have different members, “The goal will remain the same, keep the trophy in San Diego and claim another title,” said Josh.

Lauren Fisher

The final member of Team Invictus is no stranger to the Invictus community. For Lauren, returning to Invictus is returning to her roots in the sport. The last time Lauren competed on Team Invictus was in 2019 alongside her now husband Rasmus Anderson, Regan Huckaby and Tommy Vinas. Lauren started training at CrossFit Invictus in San Diego at only 14 years old in 2008, alongside her older brother CrossFit Games athlete Garret Fisher.

Lauren’s last appearance at the CrossFit Games was in 2022 with CrossFit Reykjavik. She narrowly missed qualifying as an individual in 2023 at the very competitive North America West Semifinals. Lauren is ready to go back to the CrossFit Games with Team Invictus. While it might be a different team, the goal is still the same as it always was: to win.

Good luck to Team Invictus as they head into the 2024 Open.
