“Invictus has helped me with my confidence. I feel great following our coaches’ instructions. I’ve had some injuries in the past following wrong ones, so whenever I’m at CrossFit Invictus, I feel confident that I’m learning from experienced coaches and performing movements correctly.”

He moved to San Diego in 2005 to lead the Research & Development organization at Dexcom. He holds numerous patents in continuous glucose monitoring and data communications. Throughout his professional career, Jorge has retained a strong passion for fitness and sports. He began weightlifting during his time as a track athlete in high school, and strength training has been a consistent part of his life ever since. During his time at Dexcom, he began to pursue long distance running alongside his everyday training, running multiple half-marathons, several triathlons, and the NY marathon. After joining Invictus in 2017, Jorge quickly fell in love with CrossFit, earning his Level 1 certification. He is always looking for new ways to deepen his involvement in the overlap between healthcare, fitness, nutrition, and longevity.

He has worked with athletes around the world through online coaching and program design since 2009, but still prefers the day-to-day interaction with athletes of all ages and abilities that walk through the doors of Invictus’ physical facilities.

Kim McLaughlin

Kim McLaughlin has been with Invictus for 15 years in a number of different roles. She started as a member just one month after Invictus officially opened it’s doors in Little Italy. New to CrossFit, she quickly fell in love with the community, the comradery, and the competition aspect of the gym and the sport. She won Invictus’ very first Look Good, Feel Good challenge and went on to compete in the sport of CrossFit on two different teams at Regionals before becoming a staff member at the gym in 2014.

Kim worked the front desk in the Little Italy location for two years before taking the floor as a coach in early 2016. She led classes at both the Little Italy location and the Point Loma location for about a year before stepping into the Head Coach/Manager role exclusively in Point Loma. There she worked hard to shape the community and create a home for those members until the doors to that location closed in 2019. At that point, Kim moved to the downtown location to fill in the Head Coach/Manager role there where she continued to focus on building community and helping people find the fun in fitness.

Kim has been an integral part in the day to day operations of our downtown location since her move in 2019 and her primary focus has always been on the members and the member experience. Top notch coaching, education, a sense of community and some fun in fitness are her top priorities. Now, as a partner in the business, she can ensure that those things stay the focus well into the future of the business.

Invictus is a truly special place. Ensuring that every person who walks through the doors can experience the same sense of community and comradery that Kim fell in love with back in 2009 has been and always will be her goal.
