Cat Blatner during CrossFit Open Workout 16.1.

The Magic of Friday Night Lights
Written By Cat Blatner

If you haven’t experienced Friday Night Lights at CrossFit Invictus, you must make it a priority to join us at least once.

The energy is unreal.

For us athletes, it doesn’t get much better than this. When CJ introduces the athletes to the crowd and we are waiting to start our workout, I love looking around the room at all of the smiling faces watching in anticipation of what is yet to come. My heart elevates and my energy is charged by the encouragement and excitement that our Sea of Green brings every Friday evening. This is one of the only times during competition where the athletes and the Sea of Support get to be side by side – it’s a magical thing. I look into the faces of my Invictus family and no matter what lies ahead of me, it doesn’t matter because I see how many people have my back.

As the workout starts, the cheering begins. You don’t yet know what to expect when the timer goes off; all you know is that this is what we train for all year long and it’s GO time. However, this test is different. During this challenge I get to hear encouragement throughout every difficult moment that picks me up and drives me on. I feel like I can dig deeper than ever before; I want to push past every terrible feeling, every negative or defeating thought that I might have had before this moment is shut off by the loud cheers and the positive energy around me.

I would just like to say thank you to each and every one of you who makes Friday Night Lights so unbelievably magical for us athletes. We know that there are many other things that you could be doing with your Fridays and it makes me so honored that you wish to come out and watch us take on the Open. It is truly an honor to represent Invictus during this time of year and my biggest goal is to make each of you proud.

So thank you Sea of Green. Thank you for your support and positivity. You make the season worth every second of hard work that we put in!

Sincerely,
Coach Cat
