Invictus Masters Athlete Spotlight on Bethanne Plasman!
Interview by Nichole DeHart

Let me introduce you to Bethanne Plasman. She is in the 40-44 age division and has been killing it in training all year. She came in 32nd in the CrossFit Open Masters Qualifier as her first year competing as a Master athlete. She is now competing in the Granite Games Qualifier with hopes to make it out to Minnesota to compete. She was kind enough to answer a few questions about herself and her training!

Nichole: Where do you currently train?

Bethanne: I train at a gym that I also co-own called CrossFit 1401 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Nichole: What does your training day look like?

Bethanne: I train 2-4 hours a day usually from 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. I sometimes go back in the afternoon to lift.

Nichole: How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Bethanne: I started CrossFit in July 2014. I am a swimmer so I try to swim everyday, especially when I get off shift (I am a firefighter), which helps me become more mentally prepared for the day (kind’ve like a cleansing after shift).

Nichole: Do you have any training partners?

Bethanne: I normally train with my husband and some other masters at our gym. I also get some of the younger athletes to join in as well for the extra punishment!

Nichole: How long have you been following Invictus Masters Program?

Bethanne: I joined Invictus Masters in November 2015. I was doing the Competitors Blog before that.

Nichole: What was the first workout you ever did in CrossFit?

Bethanne: My first CrossFit workout, I believe, was with a ski erg, push press and step-up mixture!

Nichole: What is your favorite thing to do outside of CrossFit?

Bethanne: My favorite thing to do outside of CrossFit is hanging out with my two kids and husband at the beach or going on the boat!

Nichole: Do you have any hidden talents?

Bethanne: My hidden talent is that I can play the string bass and cello. I love music and how it makes you feel at any given time.

Nichole: If you could have only any post workout meal that has no consequences tomorrow, what would it be?

Bethanne: My post workout meal that I would eat everyday if I could would be buffalo style hot wings with a cheeseburger!
