Invictus’ Very Own Warrior
Written by Cat Blatner

Many of you may recognize that big smile above. Meet my good friend and long time Invictus member, Lorna Briddick. Lorna’s smile is not only contagious but it is unwavering. In fact, that smile stayed bright and true even through a diagnoses of stage 2 breast cancer this past March. I’ll never forget the day I went out to lunch with Lorna and she told me that she was diagnosed with early stages of breast cancer. My heart sank to my stomach, I wanted to cry right then and she looked at me and said, “You know what? I am so lucky they found it early.” I admire this woman so much for the positive attitude she has had through her fight. Not only did she sit and say how lucky she was but often times she would say in the midst of a workout…“Come on Cat, I think my surgery will be less painful than these wall ball shots!” We have shared so many laughs and good times in the gym together. Through this experience I have learned to appreciate my health and face obstacles with a smile on my face. Lorna is an inspiration to me and I hope someday you get to meet her and feel as inspired as I do from this woman. She is truly a gem.

I am happy to say that Lorna kicked cancer’s butt! She faced adversity head-on and went through treatment with low stress and zero self pity. She came out the other side victorious and stronger than before.

In true Lorna fashion, she wanted to take this experience and give back to others who might be struggling through their own cancer diagnosis. Lorna teamed up with Everyday Warrior and Pop Your Hips to create this beautiful tribute shirt seen below! With every shirt sold $10 will be donated into the pockets of someone who truly needs financial support while undergoing cancer treatment. If you are interested in donating to Everyday Warrior please click on the link above.

Lorna, thank you for your amazing attitude, your brave soul and teaching me so many lessons through the adversity you faced this year. You are truly a warrior!
