In teams of two, complete as many rounds as possible in 30 minutes of:
“Dissecting Kelly”
400 Meter Run
30 Box Jumps (24″/20″)
30 Wall Ball Shots (20/14 lbs)
Team members will alternate tasks, with only one member working at any one time. Thus, Partner A will run 400 meters, Partner B will perform 30 Box Jumps, Partner A will perform 30 Wall Ball Shots, and Partner B will run 400 meters – and so on for 30 minutes.
Luke & Anika:
7+26 BJs (ran on treadmill)
A. Bryan and Christy (Christy 8′ wall balls) – 6 rounds + 100m run.
18.1 – RX 9r + 1 T2B = 271reps
I’m super happy with this because my rowing isn’t ever going to break any records, and as you can see from the video my T2B do not have a nice flowing kip (something I’ll work on), I just kept telling myself to keep moving…don’t stop! But overall I think I did well..on to the next!

Smashed it great job
Thank you Dustin…just doing what I love!
Great job Candy! It’s great to see your hard work paying off.
Thanx Mike…I am hoping for something a little more in my wheelhouse this week..maybe some burpees!! But then they will do something stupid and want me to do 50 reps of 300# snatches in between each burpee. All I can do is my best!
You did do well, Candy. Very well. You should feel great about that because it’s an excellent performance.
Thanks Ryan…I was sooo super nervous…but now that this first one is over..on to the next!
Awesome work! Was that snow at the end!?
Thank you…snow?? Probably the chalk dust, I love my chalk! We haven’t gotten snow since Thursday and it’s already gone
Very, very nicely done!!!
Retested at 10 rounds flat underestimated the doms in forearms and abs def understand the Friday/Monday gig now….also didn’t think the recording thru got a call 7:00 in and it stopped the video had no clue of course ??♂️ Guess I’ll keep practicing the videoing
Great work Dustin! I put my wife’s phone in airplane mode and turned WiFi off during the recording.. my bad for not mentioning that. I strapped in one round too when I was gasping for air and not thinking
No problem def glad I tried so I can learn for the future….def a muscle memory thing lol….thanks again for the support looking forward to the next 4 weeks
Great Job Dustin…Congrats…can’t believe you did this again!
After about 4 rounds my thoughts exactly lol thanks candy how did u do?
Trying to upload video right now. I’m new at all this uploading stuff. I’ll post shortly. ..I hope !
That makes two of us lol definitely looking forward to doing more recording in the future
18.1 258 reps – 8 Rds +18 reps
That HUUURRRT!! I was super low on energy and wanted to just stop about 10 min in. I have been sick the last couple days and really felt it. I wanted to break into 9 rounds and secretly into 10, though I had my doubts I would be able to do that. Oh well. I am definitely not doing a redo!
(I am the slow one in blue and black.)

Awesome job janelle!
Awesome job!! You gave it your all and that’s all that matters. Great work pushing through!!! Those last 10 minutes were hell
Great job Janelle! If you retested I have no doubt you could break into ten rounds. Not that you would welcome that suffering again. We love seeing how much work you put into fitness and this community!
9’31” — “MUSIC. PLEASE.” ???
? That was the other girl. I felt the same way, but couldn’t breathe enough to speak!
That’s awesome…you did great Janelle! Congrats!
6 rounds, plus run & 22 box jumps.
18.1 today @ home
335 reps / 10+15
No DB at home so used #53 KB
T2B and cleans UB
Row avg :45
Well done, Rob. Big numbers.
Killed it!
Huge performance great work!
Smashed it!
That Rob Schneider…..
18.1 Rx: 8 + 26 (282 reps)
Kept each round under 2’00” until the sixth round, and at that point I just couldn’t make up time. Props to everyone for getting it done!
Great work Teddy! I know this one wasn’t in your wheelhouse but you fought hard and had a great score!
Great job Teddy!!!
Great work bro!
Excellent work, Teddy.
I just saw your reply to me and threw in my tips, but didn’t realize you had already done the workout. Great job!
No worries brother, if I retest I’m going straight to your notes—thanks again Chris!
One more thing…NO CHALK BREAKS! I chalked once before I started and that was it.
OK. Sooooo I was sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out the math. I was like why am I getting such different answers to all these scores?????? I showed my husband my score card, and was like??????? And then he was like, well the cals are different… It was like a sudden light. NO WONDER I was getting different answers! 🙂 I was worried that I couldn’t count…. 🙂 Great job! And wasn’t it horrible???
Nice work Teddy…and don’t listen to Chris about the chalk..I had to chalk too…and I used so much that Longhorn thought it was snowing…gotta love the chalk!
18.1 – 10 rds + 3 T2B (324 reps)
I had to make a couple of adjustments due to grip issue in right hand. I used a 24kg KB for the right hand C&J because the thicker handle is “easier” to hold then the DB. Also had to use an Ab sling/arm sling to put right arm in for T2B. Other then that, Rx. Happy with the score. 20 min is a grind!
Brother this is awesome. Congrats on a job well done!!!
Thanks bro. Way to hit it hard buddy. Great score!
Chad you constantly inspire us all, way to get it done and you smoked it!
Thanks. Appreciate it! Killed it today man! Can’t wait to see the rest of your scores.
Awesome work man that’s great!!
Thanks Joey. Awesome job! You crushed it buddy!
That’s incredible bro!
Amazing job, Chad.
Great work Chad…Congrats!
18.1 Rx (Masters 35-39) – 10rds + 7 TTB (327 reps)
https://youtu.be/G33d-_oHShs
Wow, I wanted to quit 5mins in. Everything felt fatigued by the end… great challenge. Congrats to all for finishing strong on this one, it tested the mind and the body in an intense way! My performance was right where I wanted to be, glad to be moving on to the next one.
Great work longhorn. Way to push through!
Thanks Mike, I’m really impressed with your score and doing TTB singles. That takes a lot of concentration and extra effort to jump up to the bar a million times!
Thanks. In the end it was better for me to go that that route than to wear my grip out halfway through. The other two movements were good for me and I was trying to move through the reps and cals as quickly as possible. On the another week of training and the next workout!
Smashed it brother nice work!
Thanks bro, your tips were a big help!
Are you submitting this video? Was it taken with a phone camera? Than u just add it on YouTube?
Yes, yes, and yes! I have already submitted it along with my score. The YouTube app is your friend in this endeavor
Gotcha does the rower screen need to be in the video so they can see the cals and that it’s reset? Sorry im new to this thinking about redoing with video
Wow, redoing would crush my brain. Joey had the cals visible. I didn’t see that in the standards, but I’m not too worried because I doubt it matters unless your in contention for regionals etc. I do track my rows on the C2 app so if push comes to shove I do have that evidence. I submitted videos like this in the crossfit liftoff which has rowing and they were approved no questions asked.
Gotcha ok bro thanks for your help I felt like that after 17.1 this one I didn’t feel like anything got super taxed so might give it another shot In the morning…thanks again
Just checked and my score has already been marked as “valid” with a green light, just FYI. If you try again, what do you think you can improve?
Awesome thanks again! I want to shoot for 11 rounds I actually had an extremely late lunch yesterday which I felt def held me back I actually have to have a good amount of time after I eat before I workout…but more importantly to get on the board instead of just following along…
I understand getting off your schedule, that happened to me in 17.5 last year and I redid it and dropped like 4mins. It’s a fun ride and even more fun to check the leaderboard!
You can get 11…
After watching my video tonight I realized I spent a lot of energy on the DB C&J. I was basically doing a muscle clean(almost looked like I was curling it sometimes) and push press. I’m not sure how you did it the 1st time, but I would recommend a dip and drive approach to conserve energy.
Hey man, I’m nof sure if you’re talking about going right from power clean catch into push press here but this is what got Briggs no repped a few times. It’s strange because it is not in the movement standards in the games website but they were definitely no repping that in the Open announcement event. So muscle clean + push press is the fastest way to go… or else power clean, reset then push press or jerk. They talked about it in the Brute strength video for 18.1. And by the way I can’t see your video!!! Says something… Read more »
Nevermind about the video… I was able to view it on my PC using a VPN. Solid performance my friend!!!
Wow that’s dedication Joey! Not sure what YouTube has against Canadians, but you’re okay in my book?
Guess I found out the hardway if iPhone rings it stops the video didn’t even think about it….it was definitely amateur day for me…thanks again for all ur help brother much appreciated!
Big score, great work!
Thanks James, glad to be done with this one!
Super smooth transition on the DB! I lost a lot of time putting mine down. Well done man, as always, thanks for being such a huge encouragement to this community and for putting it all out on the line. You’re an example of a leader.
I appreciate you brother!
Thanks Teddy, just glad to be a part of a great community. I rarely meet people like you and the rest of the gang!
I couldn’t wait to see your score. Amazing results man!! Making Invictus proud once again
Just trying to keep up with you Joey! So impressed with how far your all-around fitness has come! I could say I wish I got more reps, pushed harder the last 5 mins… but I did what my body was capable of and I’m happy with that!
I could say exactly the same man… let’s just call it a day and see what the next week brings our way
Fun to watch the vids. Perfect song at the end of the wod! Did I mention you’re pretty good at this stuff? You are.
Ha I’m all about the custom playlist, although by then all I could hear was myself breathe. Thanks!
Great job, thelonghorn! I’ll be watching your progress on the leaderboard. Go crush it!
Are you registered? You should be with your amazing score!!
I am not. I don’t have all of the equipment I need
Sorry to hear that, I know most crossfit boxes take free drop-ins during the Open, but I know that can be awkward and a hassle… I still need to figure out my WB target situation. My garage ceiling is 10.75ft. So I normally just throw as high as I can but I assume hitting the ceiling will be a no-rep?. Also if anything involves 25ft lunges like last year, I’ll be in trouble.
Yeah. I can make both work…if it is warm outside. My ceiling is 10 ft and the garage is 27ft, so lunges are a little awkward. When it’s warm I do WB outside, otherwise I throw to the ceiling.
Awesome work! 10+!
Thanks Chris!
5+400 m
Hello all…
18.1 today. 10 + 17 reps (9 dbell hcj) = 337 reps
Did 25 pulls on rower (:35 – :41). UB on all rounds until the 11th. Stayed steady and used transitions to “rest”. Did mixed grip on t2b and switched every couple rounds. Dbell is pretty easy if you do KB style on the down phase. Steady pace is key on this one. Goal was 8-10 rounds.
Great work Chris!
Thanks mike.
Hell of a lot of reps! Awesome work Chris! Congrats
Thanks Candy. This one was in my wheelhouse.
You destroyed this!!! Amazing work man
Thanks. I didn’t mention it, but prior to starting, I really stretched my forearms. I don’t know if it would help, but I didn’t get the fatigue a lot of people talked about. I also used a hook grip with the dbells which helped a lot.
That was smart, i didn’t think about doing that… might’ve helped. By round7-8 my grip was pretty smoked. Awesome work once again man
I had a feeling you’d crush this with your rowing prowess! Mixed grip TTB and hook grip on the DBs, you sound like a pro!
Hook grip was my idea. Matt Chan had some tips and mixed grip was from him. He also had the idea of KB style on way down as opposed to dropping to shoulder first.
You crushed it!!! Nice work and helpful tips for the others who haven’t done it yet.
Thanks Michele. I follow Invictus on YouTube and was watching your video on foot mobility. I can’t move my toes like you can.
Chris that is some AWESOME pulling power. Any tips worth sharing?
Haha thanks Teddy. Mixed grip and switch grips every round. Hook grip on dbell and let it fall between legs in one motion (as opposed to dropping to shoulder), like a kettlebell. I stretched my forearms prior and had no problems with grip. The row is what it is. Thinking back on this workout, it was set up well for me…Long triplet, with low reps on each exercise. Hope this helps. Good luck!
?. Impressive, sir.
Thanks, ryan.
Crushed it!
So nice to be back home.
6 rounds plus run and 3 Box jumps.
Glad your back Ryan! Have you done 18.1 yet?
I haven’t. Maybe Monday or Tuesday. 50lb DB is one I don’t have so I am looking for a good option plus 3 weeks of business trip and my sleep and diet have been inconsistent.
I practiced the DB hang C&J today with what I had. With a comparatively weak core and shoulder instability this workout makes me a bit nervous. Not letting that stop me but I will approach it with caution.
Looks like you kicked some tail on it. Good work, Teddy.
Welcome back!
18.1 Rx
324 (10 rds + 4 reps)
My ultimate goal was 10 rounds so I am very pleased with this result… I gave it my all. They key on this one was quick transitions and never stopping. The challenge was definitely mental and the breathing. Thanks everyone for the tips! One done, 4 to go…

Great job joey!
That was amazing! So proud of you Joey and all of your hard work and dedication ! Congrats!
Thanks Candy! Can’t wait to see you crush it too!
Great job Joey!
Thanks Mike!
Sweet setup you have too!
Thank!! I love it
Great work Joey, I’ve noticed in other WODs that you are the TTB king. Congrats! My video will be up soon once YouTube finishes processing!
Thanks my friend!! You crushed it
Great job, Joey! So happy to see you exceeded your goal!
Thanks Michele!! All thanks to Invictus
Nice job brother! Got me by one rep
It wasn’t intentionnal either!! Lol you can get me back on the next one
Excellent effort man, ten rounds is no joke!!! It’s amazing to see how much you progress week to week. Encouraged as always ??
Thanks Teddy!! This community brings awesome motivation 🙂
Did u use YouTube for video also?
Yes I did! It’s free… and easy to use
Fantastic job. Plus it’s cool to know that you sound just like Georges St Pierre.
LOL not the first time I’m hearing this…thanks!
So fast! Super impressed!
Thanks Janelle I appreciate it 🙂
Joey! You animal – nice work!
Thanks Chris! Great job to you as well!
7 rounds plus run and 38 reps
