Executing the Parallette Shoot Through
Video by TJ O’Brien

The parallette shoot through requires strength, timing, and coordination, as well as fundamental control of the hollow and arch positions. If you are just starting to get comfortable with gymnastics movements and you find your feet touching the ground on the jump through or back, then regress the movement by raising it up further off the ground with two boxes instead of parallettes, for example. Another regression could be to forego a push-up at the start of the movement and focus only on controlling your jump through and back. For a progression, try a jump through to a brief L-sit hold and back without letting the feet touch the ground!
