Book Review: “Can’t Hurt Me”
Written by Holden Rethwill
While I was driving this weekend I re-listened to David Goggins’ book “Can’t Hurt Me”. If you haven’t listened to it or read it yet, do yourself a favor and go get it. I was ready to run through a brick wall after listening to some of the stuff he talked about.
I recommend the audiobook version because in between chapters, Goggins and the narrator have a podcast like discussion recapping the chapter, and you get even more than what you get from the book. It’s the in between parts that I found some golden nuggets that I’ll be sharing with you throughout the week.
Without spoiling the book too much, I’ll just say it’s for anyone to read. He appeals to the masses and even says multiple times he doesn’t care if you’re “purple [freaking] polka dotted”(he used a stronger word)…you can still take the mindset and approach that he gives to accomplishing tasks and staying mission driven in your life.
In the book, Goggins issues a set of 10 challenges. We’re going to go through these challenges over the next couple weeks.. your participation is highly encouraged. So disclaimer, I took this from his book, but for those of you who won’t read the book.. these are very valuable and something I think we all should go through!
So here we go…Share your thoughts in the comments section.
“What are the current factors limiting your growth and success? Is someone standing in your way at work or school? Are you under appreciated and overlooked for opportunities? What are the long odds you’re up against right now? Are you standing in your own way?”
