A Lifetime Goal Achieved at 40-years-old!
Written by C.J. Martin

A huge congratulations to Jonas (aka, “mrjling”) for achieving a “bucket list” item yesterday with his Bodyweight x 2.5 deadlift. At 40 years old and 160 lbs, Jonas deadlifted 402 lbs. His form isn’t perfect for this lift – he knows that and comments on it, but given that he was going for a lifetime goal and vowed to do it “never again,” I will take it!

More important than Jonas’ achievement of this goal is what you can see in this video – his dedication. As you might notice, his set-up isn’t the most glamorous. He doesn’t have a large gym and a huge community of athletes rooting him on when he goes for this effort. He has a goal, a focused mind and a willingness to do what it takes to achieve his goal (note the tape holding the plates on the barbell). There are no excuses . . . just results.
(More proof of that below – Jonas performing Wednesday’s workout outside with lunges and handstand push-ups to a street sign post.)

Please join me in congratulating Jonas . . . and all of the guys like him that train hard on their own. If we cannot be the community of support in person, at least we can provide some support and celebrate their successes online.

I’m actually a bit overwhelmed by this.
Hmmm.. …watching the videos you also could think I’m just some weirdo with Aspergers syndrome… … and maybe I am a bit. At least that’s what my wife tells me sometimes.

I just want to say that this means a lot to me. All these comments and congratulations really stays in my heart , and I want to thank each and everyone of you. Thank you!

CJ, thank you buddy.
I love Invictus!

Jonas awesome job man…dreams and goals are never made in arenas or stadiums filled with hundreds of fans, they are made behind the scenes when no one is watching or caring. When all there is is just you, the STEAL, and your drive to do the best that you can. Well done my man.
