5 Not-Super-Bad-For-You Super Bowl Snacks
Written by Kaitlyn Kassis

If you want to enjoy the Super Bowl and indulge in some game-time goodies without going totally off the nutrition rails — here are 5 of my fav simple, delicious snack ideas. (Also great snack ideas for anytime, not just the Super Bowl)

1) Veggies + B*tchin’ Sauce

Cut up some bell peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and baby carrots to create beautiful rainbow array of veggies to accompany arguably the most delicious savory, dip known to man-kind— B*tchin’ Sauce. This is a San Diego-based brand that is made from almonds and comes in a variety of flavors and levels of spiciness. It’s also a great sauce to dip rotisserie chicken in to for a little extra protein!

2) Air-Fried Sweet Potato Fries

Slice a Sweet-Potato into French fry shaped slivers. Or if you want the even easier option— buy the pre-cut ones. Add a drizzle of avocado oil and sea-salt. Set the air fryer to 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes and you’ve got yourself the most effortless fries you’ve ever made. This is also a great excuse to buy an air fryer if you don’t already have one!

3) Cauliflower Pretzels

These pretzels taste just like a normal pretzel— maybe even better (in my opinion)! They satisfy that crunchy/ salty snack craving and also sneakily contain veggies. They are also fantastic with the B*tchin Sauce mentioned above in 1).

4) Cinnamon Toast Rice Cakes + Almond Butter

If you want a sweeter snack try topping a cinnamon toast rice cake with some almond butter. Even better— add sliced bananas and dark chocolate chips to make an even more delectable treat.

5) Balsamic Glazed Brussel Sprouts

Not sure if this counts as a snack or a side, but regardless its a must! Yet another great excuse to buy an an air fryer— all you need to do is slice the Brussels into halves, toss with avocado oil, drizzle on some balsamic reduction glaze, and then put into the air fryer at 390 degrees for 15-20 min (or until blackened to crispy perfection). The balsamic reduction caramelizes the Brussels into the most wonderful veg you have ever consumed.

Go Niners!

*Editor’s note: Go Chiefs!
