A Worthy and Personal Cause
Written by C.J. Martin

On May 17, 2010, Invictus member Ben Sullins’ mother passed away after a long battle with lung cancer.  I never met Ben’s mother, but I know that she raised a son who is caring, dedicated and enthusiastic about everything he takes on in life.  Fittingly, in honor of his mother, he is taking action to help others who have, are or will face their own battle with lung cancer . . . and he is looking for a team of friends and fellow athletes to help him.

On August 21-22, Ben will lead a team in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  His goal is to raise at least $1,000 and get 12 participants to camp out at North Embarcadero here in downtown San Diego on the day of the event.  I have no doubt that we will help him surpass that goal easily.

If you would like to participate in support of Ben and his family, please talk to him or email info@crossfitinvictus.com and we will put you in touch with him.  If you would like to donate to Ben’s team, click here and show your support.

  1. Ben, your mom would be proud. You’re a good guy. We’re happy to donate to your cause.

Cheddies McBeanburrito: I used your beautifully decorated kettlebell today. It is lovely!

  2. Ben, my mom died in 2002 after a very short battle with lung cancer, so I have a very personal interest in your cause. I would love to join your team if you are still looking for athletes to participate!

  3. Thanks for your support everyone! This really means a lot to me…

Sarah – Absolutely! Go to our team home page (linked below) and click ‘Join our team’. Once we’re closer to the actual date I’ll be sending out some communication to get the team organized for the event. Let me know if you have any questions or anything otherwise I look forward to talking to you soon.

    Cheers,
    Ben
