Workout of the Day
Four sets for max reps of:
Against a 5-minute running clock . . .
Unbroken Pull-Ups x Max Reps
600 Meter Run
115/75 lb. Push Press x Max Reps
Rest exactly 5 minutes between sets
For each set note number of pull-ups completed and number of push press completed.

So for this workout, I assumed that by Max Reps it meant that as soon as you got off the pull-up bar or dropped the barbell, you were done and those were your max reps. So that’s how I did it. Also, I rowed 600 meters instead of running because it was pouring rain, dark(6am) and cold…yep, in Mexico City…The rainy season has officially started!
Round 1: 25 / 20
Round 2: 20 / 20
Round 3: 20 / 20
Round 4: 20 / 20
We did it slightly different than Dominique. My max pull ups were finished when I dropped from the bar, but my max push presses were finished at the 5-min mark (dropped the bar a few times each round). This workout was a beast no matter what you did.
1: 30/20 = 50
2: 26/19 = 45
3: 25/16 = 41
4: 22/15 = 37
I think 30 pull ups is a PR for me so I was happy with that. The push presses were tough, and the run was a mental battle trying to figure out if I wanted to run faster, hold back for the push presses, etc. I tried to keep up with Ali on the runs, but she blew me away as usual.
1: 21/8
2: 18/11
3: 13/8
4: 17/9
Ended the pull-ups as soon as I fell out of rhythm. Push presses were done like Dan, only fewer…good stuff Dan!!
1. 30/16 = 46
2. 35/14 = 49
3. 35/13 = 48
4. 30/14 = 44
Did 20 – 25 butterfly then finished with kipping pull-ups each round. The first 10 PP were good after that it was a struggle.
Ali was focused and not taking any sh*t today. I take back the foot comment, please don’t hurt me.
Just because I told you I cried in the middle of round 3 doesn’t mean you have to shower me with compliments, Dan and Jim…I told you it was a girl thing.
1. 25/15 = 40
2. 23/16 = 39
3. cried
4. tried to talk myself out of getting in my car and driving home.
One of the those days where my head got the best of me….pretty sure it had nothing to do with the actual workout.
Just wanted to say this workout today was perfect. Hit some real weaknesses of mine, meaning running and pull ups. Then played to something I enjoy which is any overhead lift. I ran 300M which is once around the block. Did banded pull ups and used 65# for push presses.
1. 26
2.26
3. 21 ( thought I still had another minute)
4. 25
Great programming, really enjoyed this one!
30/11
30/9
25/10
20/11
I burnt out on the pull ups and wasted a lot of time between what were basically sets of five or six building to 30. I can do about four to six butterfly like pull ups but then I turn into some sort of swinging monkey on the bar and have to stop and reset myself.
That was a fun workout though!
Wahooo….. Worked on my weaknesses and kicked the crap out of me! I’m pretty sure I did my lest 5 reps of push presses with my eyes crossed, haha! Forearms were fried and I didn’t know what to do with my arms while I was running!
1. 50/41 = 91
2. 29/26= 55
3. 25/25= 50
4. 25/27= 52
Merci CJ
