Consistency Matters
Written by C.J. Martin
Consistency is probably the single most important factor in keeping you fit and healthy. Consistently eating clean and making it into the gym is the path to constant and continued achievement when it comes to your fitness. And for all you competitive folks out there, consistency also matters for the Invictus Look Good, Feel Good, Play Good Challenge.
We are going to award two bonus points (deductions really, since the lowest score will win the Challenge) to all Challenge participants who average more than three visits per week over the course of our eight week challenge. Two points can make a HUGE difference in this competition, so we sincerely hope that all of our participants receive those points.
What does this mean? It means that you need to remember to sign-in EVERY TIME you come into the gym. If you forgot your card, grab a coach and make sure they get you signed in.
Good luck everyone!

Modifying the rules after the fact? Plus what about people who are literally consistent completing the workouts, but at home instead of CFI?
Can I get a bonus for smashing Barry’s deadlift PR?
Does attendance at Sage’s or Mike Hom’s seminars count?
Courtland, no ex post facto violation here. It’s not modifying the rules, it’s adding a bonus! A bonus that I LOVE! (cuz I’m gonna friggin need all the help that I can get!)
And Barry can now do strict HSPU along with massive deadlifts. And he has an epic mustache. So there.
How about logging onto the games programming? Since we workout at odd times.
It’s penalizing otherwise consistent participants based on where they choose (or are constrained) to workout. One is not necessarily more consistent just because their workout happens on Columbia St. Nevertheless, everyone will need their bonus points to match the blowtorch I have taken to my fat belly…down 8 lbs in 3 weeks.
RE HSPU’s, I bet Barry is prepping you for some kama sutra workouts.
I agree with Courtland. I am working out 5 days a week, 2 at Invictus and 3 elsewhere incorporating routines I’ve learned through crossfit. While I wouldn’t mind attending 3 days a week at Invictus, I am already pushing the boundaries of my work/ sleep schedule by scheduling 2 workouts a week between the hours of 6am and 6:30pm. It will be disappointing, to say the least, if the winner is decided by bonus points.
Worry warts,
Never fear. We will fairly accommodate those of you who are constrained by work, travel or whatever. The purpose is to give some motivation and incentive to being consistent.
If you are working out at odd hours, with Sage, Mike or any other coach, or you are traveling and working out with another affiliate, or you are confined to your office and decide to do 100 burpees for time (it’s been done in at least one law office at 1:00 a.m. as a means of staying awake), you can get credit for that. Shoot us an email (info@crossfitinvictus.com) at the end of each week and tell us what you did outside of Invictus. (Don’t just tell us you worked out. I won’t believe you unless you state WHAT you did.)
The whole purpose here is to help you achieve your fitness goal, and the only way you will do that is if you stay consistent for the whole 8 weeks.
Nice to see a little competition is driving some of you to up your games a bit. Keep up the good work.
