Many of our San Diego Invicti may not know this, but the “Sea of Green” extends well beyond the confines of Little Italy, the SoCal region, or even the Home Depot Center. Featured in the photo above and video below is the “Swiss Sea of Green” – our friends from CrossFit Leman. The team from CrossFit Leman recently took first place in their local Dragon Boat competition . . . and from the looks of the video, they had a great time doing it.
I have had the pleasure of consulting with the owner of CrossFit Leman, Euan Robertson, for three months now on their program design, and Invictus coaches Shane Farmer and Sage Mertz (Burgener) have conducted specialty clinics at their facility. The results have been impressive, and indicative of the hard work put in by their members and owner. On the first day of our program design, we asked the members of CrossFit Leman to establish a 1-RM back squat – this information was vital in terms of helping us collect information and determining the needs of the group. 20% of the members achieved a new back squat PR on day one. We built a program that was comprehensive to all aspects of their fitness and re-tested their 1-RM back squat eight weeks later. The result, 75% of their members achieved a new 1-RM back squat PR.
But as cool as the results of the physical testing are, there is something even more important that they have created at CrossFit Leman. It’s the sense of community – the same link that makes the “Sea of Green” in San Diego so special. Just watch the video below and you will see what I mean. The community at CrossFit Leman is strong, and a model for other gyms to follow. Their members are enthusiastic with a shared desire for healthier and happier lives. They support each other in their efforts and thrive because Leman provides an environment for all to succeed.
Great work CrossFit Leman, from one Sea of Green to another!
