The generosity and support of the Invictus community never ceases to amaze me. Our volunteers for the OPTathlon 3.0 on Sunday were fantastic! From 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. there were dozens of Invictus members on hand to make sure that every athlete participating in the OPTathlon had a judge and volunteer. Their assistance helped the event run smoothly and efficiently, and for that I am extremely grateful. On behalf of everyone who participated and/or organized the OPTathlon, thank you to each and every member of the Invictus community who came out to volunteer!
In addition to the awesome efforts of our volunteers, our very own Ayo Anise was demonstrating some impressive work of her own. Ayo took FIRST PLACE at Sunday’s OPTathlon. She hit a 198 lb Clean & Jerk to start the day, then rowed 500 meters in 1:39, rested 90 seconds, and rowed a second 500 meters in 1:41. Ayo took second in the 8-minute AMRAP of 8 thrusters, 8 pull-ups and 8 burpees over the barbell, and finished the day with a 13-minute 3000 meter run. It was an amazing series of performances, and a well-deserved first-place finish. Congratulations Ayo!!!

Congrats Ayo! Always an inspiration to watch. Love ya!
So proud of you Ayo!
Congrats Ayo! Told you – who needs sleep? You had what was needed, heart (and coffee
).
Sleep is definitely NOT over rated as I crushed some sleep last nigh after the OPTathlon! Thanks for coming out and supporting.
Nothing like registering at midnight the night before….it looked like you def achieved your goal to have fun!!!
Congrats!
It wasn’t the smartest move on my part but it was a lot of fun! Thanks to you an Steve for coming and supporting. I fully expect you two to compete next year!
Great job Ayo!

So amazing Ayo!
Yay Ayo! Congrats! Wish we could have been there to cheer you on.
Amazing Ayo!!!! My favorite part was when Jamie and I realized your heat for the triple jump had started and when we were looking around to find you…you were helping Krazy K take out the garbage:)….true Invicti!
Agreed
Nice work Ayo (though I am still feeling the wounds of taking 2nd place to your paleo lasagna).
It was a really fun experience to see top athletes go through their preparation and warm up, get fired up, approach their events and even engage in a little bit of psychological warfare. The effort, enthusiasm and skills brought to bear for the actual events was crystallizing–there were some legitimate beasts doing work yesterday.
If you have the chance to attend, volunteer for or compete in an OPTathlon, do it. I’m already looking forward to the next one.
Courtland, thank you so much for volunteering and cheering!
P.S. I just ate some of that paleo lasagna
but u too are a darn good cook!
Congrats Ayo! It was so much fun to see you compete and CRUSH those workouts!
Great job AYO!!!!
YAAAYYY!!! CONGRATS AYO!! so happy I was able to witness most of it!!

AYO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go! So proud of you, way to crush crush crush (making crushing motion with fingers)
Thanks to OPT, CJ, all the volunteers and athletes for such a rockstar Sunday. Just a bit of an update to CJ’s post. My 500m rows were 1:39 and 1:43. But I hope to bring it down to 1:41 next year. Also, my 3k run was 14 minutes but I’ll work on shaving off a few seconds to get into the 13 min range. Thank you CJ for he shout out and the goals
