Invictus Member Profile: Alan Razoky
Interviewed by Jaimie Bougie
Jaimie: So Alan, how long have you been a member of the Sea of Green/Invictus?
Alan: Since around May of 2011.
Tell me about what drove you to start Crossfit and your goals.
Back in February of 2011, I tore my right achilles while playing street hockey. I’ve always been a very active person and into sports, but after this injury I became the heaviest that I’ve ever been in all of my life. And of course, I’m not exactly ‘young’ anymore, so I knew if I wanted to continue to play hockey, I had to lose weight. As a Canadian, it is my plan to play hockey until the day I die, so my buddy Mo suggested that I give Invictus a try.
Mo is a currently member of Invictus, correct?
Yes. He actually invited a group of us to come try out Invictus with him and I was the one who ended up sticking with it religiously. I have a very addictive personality and Coach Nichole is an amazing motivator, so Invictus was perfect for me. I had surgery on my achilles on June 30th and I was on mandatory bed rest for 2 weeks; as soon as those 2 weeks were up, I had a cast put on my foot and I went straight to the gym.
Your coach, the awesome Nichole, has mentioned that you’ve made some great gains since joining Invictus; would you like share with us some of your favorites?
Since joining Invictus, my weight has dropped by 25+ lbs, my pants size has dropped 4 sizes and depending on the designer, I can now wear small to medium sized shirts versus the x-large I used to wear. Plus each month, I’m seeing PRs whenever Coach Nichole has us test any strength components.
If you could pick any wild animal to describe you, what would it be?
Hmmm….I would have to say a tiger. Tigers move in and out of prides at their leisure; sometimes they like to be on their own and sometimes they like the crowd.
Thank you Alan!

Good work, Alan!
Yay Alan! Thanks for doing the interview. Maybe Nichole will give you a break from wall balls since you were such a great sport!
