What are YOU doing this weekend? Come up to Pasadena and watch Invictus athletes in action!

The Games are recently behind us, but that doesn’t mean that the competitive season is over for everyone. This Saturday, July 28, some of the best athletes in the world will be competing in the WOD Gear Team Series competition at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. There will be several Games competitors participating, but I saw this as a phenomenal opportunity for some of my favorite athletes who narrowly missed qualifying for the Games for one reason or another.
Our all-star squad for this coming weekend will be:
- Elyse Umeda – Elyse is a three-time CrossFit Games competitor and the owner of CrossFit 808, which is producing some unbelievably talented athletes. Elyse is extremely well-rounded and blazed through a 2:31 “Diane” at the NorCal Regionals.
- Michelle Kinney – Michelle is a two-time CrossFit Games competitor and the owner of CrossFit Chickasaw. Michelle was one of four females in the world to finish event 6 of the 2012 regionals. At 5’4”, she is extremely strong and her gymnastics are solid.
- Patrick Barber – Pat is two-time CrossFit Games competitor and co-owner of NorCal CrossFit. He took 8th place in the 2011 CrossFit Games. Unfortunately, Pat had to undergo an emergency appendectomy just days before the 2012 NorCal Regionals. While I have not coached Pat, he’s a good guy and someone we should have all seen at the 2012 CrossFit Games.
- Dave Lipson – Dave is a two-time CrossFit Games competitor and more importantly, a beloved Invictus coach. Dave’s feats of strengths have been well-documented on the main site for several years. He gives our team a distinct advantage when it comes to moving heavy objects quickly, and his personality ensures that everyone will have a great time throughout the competition.
If you don’t have plans this weekend, I would love to see a small Sea of Green in the stands cheering these athletes to victory this weekend. If you cannot make it up to Pasadena this weekend, please wish luck to these four in a short note to comments.

Fairly new to Invictus, but would have LOVED LOVED to have gone to Pasadena and see coaches/team in action ! ( One day, soon!) Nothing like seeing the folks that push you beyond real or perceived limits doing that very dance themselves — albeit their uber-studly dance that is..; )! I think we need an Invictus bus for road trips like these…. or a road trip coodinator ; ) GO TEAM!! ( And go Mr. Dave Lipson, who was my Fundamentals coach
