Hand Protection at CrossFit Invictus in San Diego

Hand Protection
Written by Hunter Britt

We all know the pain of torn hands. Luckily there are a million ways to protect them from the rips and tears that inevitably come from pull-ups, toes-to-bar, muscle-ups and other gymnastic type movements. Using tape is one way to protect them.

Below is one simple way to use this resource and it can be done quickly before your next workout!

Materials needed

  • 1 roll of tape
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • As many hands as you need to protect

Steps:

  1. Tear off four equal length strips a little larger than the length of your hand.

  2. Place the sticky sides together. You should now have two strips with no sticky sides visible.

  3. Cut a hole at the top of both strips. The hole does not need to be large.

  4. Place one on your middle finger and another on your ring finger. It is fine if you need to tear the hole a little as you put them on. It just makes for a more snug hand protector.

This hand protection can be made with any type of athletic tape but, luckily, for our members and blog readers, you can now add a little pizzaz to those protectors by using the new Invictus Goat Tape! It’s available for purchase in the online store.

This method is just one of the millions that are out there but I’ve found that it works great for me.  Whatever method you choose to use, make sure to protect your hands. Unnecessary damage to your skin and hands is never something to be happy about.
