One of the neatest things about CrossFit is the community.
The workouts drew me back in ’04, but it was the folks that I got to workout with that kept me around. That first CrossFit I hung out with was SoCal’s Saturdays in Mission Bay Park, but I’ve worked with the crews at CFSD, CF East Village, CF Invictus, met with some of the folks at Elysium, Chula Vista, Coach B, worked with the folks who started CF Coronado and (if I’m hearing names right) CF Outlier.
Lately I’ve been working out solo, which has its benefits, but I thought it might be really cool to get together with local CF business owners and their members in something that’s not a throwdown or huge competition or charity event etc.
We’re all working within the CF community, and it might be super cool to set aside business stuff for a morning and just hang out and enjoy the company of good people who give a shit about fitness. This is definitely NOT a sell-a-thon or some stupid mixer, just a semi-hard workout and good company.
What I’d like to do is a quick charge up Cowles Mountain followed by breakfast, Tuesday the 7th of August. 35lb kettlebell optional.
We’ll meet up at 0700 at the Barker Way Trailhead, the run should take about 35 minutes (if you want to walk it’ll take you 45 minutes). Now, before you say “No” to an easy run up Cowles in the company of some good people, let me tell you what’ll be in store at the bottom if we can get enough of you show up. The Not So Fast Food truck will be waiting at the bottom to serve us up some great paleo/primal breakfast options.
If you’re game, send an email to Nik Hawks at [email protected] so that we can get a head count.

Drat…I would SO be there if I didn’t have to work! Maybe next time!
Same here! Maybe we can see if Nik will do it again on a weekend.
I would love to participate in this! Love cowels mountain!
Folks,
Am happy to re-do this on a weekend, let’s plan for it. How does the 18th sound?
Cheers,
