I have never used glutamine for muscle recovery, but I have used it for general GI health issues. Here's a good quick article with references on glutamine and GI health.

thanks so much mark for the info...i tend to agree with calvin. just finished 30 days of glutamine and did not much difference in recovery or muscle gain. have tried it once before with same results. have heard from several (unreliable) sources that bcaa's are now the way to go.

Entered the gym not feeling like like I would be able to lift heavy, and left the gym glad that I did. Just goes to show that you can perform well when perhaps mentally you aren't feeling your best.

Power Cleans 205-215-225-235-240(PR)
WOD: Round 1: 4:41, Round 2: 4:21, Round 3: 4:18 (on 3 min rest between)

For the record, I think glutamine was an over-priced and over-hyped supplement. I didn't notice any significant change in my recovery, immune system, or muscle gain. Glutamine was popular several years ago but its time has passed as I think most people have realized that it is useless as a dietary supplement. The supplement industry has moved onto marketing other aminos like BCAA's, L-leucine, and beta-alanine.
