Invictus Masters Athletes Testimonials

Here is what some of our Masters athletes said about our Off-Season program:

There is a real sense of community for those of us following this program.  A lot of us masters athletes work out on our own or with other athletes half our age.  I look forward to logging my workouts and comparing my results with other Masters. We all support and encourage each other as well as share in our thoughts and ideas.  I feel as though I have developed friendships with other athletes around the world that I may have never even met.  It is a terrific program. My first few months of training after the Games were a bit of a struggle.  I felt beat up and was riddled with nagging injuries. Over the last month I finally started to make some progress.  I finished the last cycle with small (2lbs.) PRs in the Snatch, Front Squat, and Strict Press. If tested I am pretty confident that I would also set PRs in consecutive Muscle Ups and HSPU.  – Allen D

This has been a great experience for me.  I have been forced to work on things that my gym barely ever programs (i. e., bar muscle up, handstand walks) as well as work on the olympic lifts that I have resisted for so long. – Matt N.

I have made the biggest improvements in my gymnastics movements during the last few months.  Handstand Walks – I could barely get 5 ft, now I am pretty consistent at 30-40ft.  Ring muscle ups – I had been doing as singles, now I can string 4-5 together. – Jaime D

I love the programming, and the volume is plenty challenging!  When I started the program at the beginning of November, I could not handle all the volume, but now I look forward to the A, B, C, and D program.  It forces me to spend more time at the box, but that’s a good thing. I am stronger after nearly 2 months on your program, setting PR’s for clean, clean and jerk, back squat, front squat, strict shoulder press, consecutive strict handstand push-ups, and consecutive double-unders. – Gordy J

I did Comp Program prior to Masters…I really liked it but the volume was hard to keep up with and the weight was always scaled. So I really like how similar it is but with adjusted weight and volume. I have added 20# to my Snatch,  25# to my Clean and 10# to my Jerk and 15# to my Bench Press. I have finally been able to cycle about 15 Butterfly Pull-ups at a time. And finally, my mobility – this has helped dramatically. I just feel much more comfortable. – Michael P

I like the time spent on the EMOM and E2MOM lifts.  I have found this repetition to be golden for my ability and my confidence and I PR’d my push press, my clean, my clean and jerk, my jerk, my front squat, and my snatch during the three month cycle. – Shaun K

I was very happy with the offseason conditioning program – it exceeded all of my expectations! – Perry S

I really enjoyed the programming for the past three months. You have incorporated just about everything we need to be successful at the next level. Being in this masters category I know first hand that recovery is much harder. I stuck to the program and see progress. – Tom H

I am really enjoying the programming.  I don’t feel beat up like I have with other programs, but I do feel like I am getting a significant amount of work in.  (Already feeling more shredded, too!)   So, THANK YOU for all the time and thought y’all have put into this program.  I really appreciate it! -Jodie H

Here is what some of our Masters athletes said about our Open Prep Program:

Your programming is the Holy Grail. – Sandy Hill

The programming was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. I loved having Nichole’s eyes on us – you can tell she puts her heart and soul into the work she does at Invictus. Looking forward to seeing what another year can do. Goal is to be able to make it to Regionals next year! – Kendall Kimball

The fact that you programmed similar training to all the open trainings in the weeks preceding the open workouts was awesome! I even asked my wife and training partner if you guys had an insider who knew the open workouts before anyone else! Well done Invictus team! – Dan Turgeon

The Program was fantastic. I really enjoyed the variety of exercises and the programming in general. Nichole was fantastic in her motivation and customer service. While I am not, nor do I expect to be anytime soon a CrossFit Games athlete, I was made to feel good about the small accomplishments that I achieved. Thank you for the preparation. – Matt Nemcic

Just fantastic! Last year I finished somewhere around 550 in the world. This year 128! I’ve been following Invictus for over two years (comp blog) but switching to the Master’s Open Prep was a smart move for me. No longer did I have to modify the workouts. The activation and mobility is also so helpful and very much needed to maintain my ability to push hard every day. I look forward to continuing on with this programming. Thank you for putting this together! – Elissa

I was unable to do a lot due to my injury; but even with that, I felt like I could do a good job with the workouts and still made the qualifier – my highest placement yet! I owe that to this wonderful programming and supportive community. I loved being able to see what my compatriots were doing, giving me an idea where I stand; thank you, I look forward to continuing with Invictus. (And pulling in as many of my friends as possible!) I’ve done well, but more importantly to me right now, I’ve had a lot of fun; I surprised myself and pushed my limits. Love it. Thanks so much. – Carmen Kassinger

Our athletes, including me, made big gains using the Masters Prep Cycle. We saw a bunch of PR’s and overall metabolic improvement. When the Open came around, we had 18 of our members sign up and complete the open! That was a huge morale boost in the box and made our small community much stronger! I hope you guys do it again next year. – Randy Tweedy

Can’t say enough positive things about it. Thank you. – Tom Hemenway

Going into the open I felt much more prepared than the previous years. All of the chest to bar pull-up during the training helped tremendously. I really enjoyed the mobility sections of each workout as well. I feel they helped prepare your body for that given day. – Kurtis Raes

From the activation videos to the swim programming to the mental prep resources – loved it! – Arthur Erickson

This was such an excellent program for me to follow. With a busy family and work schedule, I was able to see excellent results from just 3-4 days of training. The program helped me reach my goals for this Open Season and helped build my confidence in my abilities. The community is not only inspiring, but it is also extremely supportive. Nichole was so supportive during this process and I can’t thank her enough. – Aimee Sargent

This was a huge confidence builder for me and I felt very prepared going into the open. There are always things I can work on and improve but that’s what I love about CrossFit – that I always have things I can improve on! I loved the variety so that no movement seemed left behind. And I can definitely tell my strength has improved. Thank you! – Joanne Parker
